Donald D. Dean. Daybeds. December 04th , 2017.
Finally, there are 4 types of daybeds you can choose from: The Standard Daybed, Canopy Daybed, Chaise Daybed, and Sleigh Daybed. Standard Daybeds are available in a number of styles, and can feature trundle bed additions. Even though they do not convert from a couch to a sleeper like a futon, the one thing all standard daybeds have in common is that they are adaptable. They can be made to appear like a couch while functioning as a primary or additional sleeping space.
Also keep in mind that the features and bedding added to it will also play a role in what it looks like and how it functions: If you are after a softer look, consider comforter sets with more thickness. A floral pattern will definitely soften the room. Use color as a way to help to soften the room, too. For example, the linens themselves can be white or other soft colors for a more enjoyable look. However, the bed frame`s color also matters. For a softer look, choose a white, contemporary daybed.
Another option is a contemporary futon bed or sofa bed. These are very useful when you don`t have a spare room but need extra options for when you have guests. Not only are these options functional they add a modern flare to your space. When choosing a modern sofa bed or futon cover most design stores give your the option to pick the fabrics which also helps in fitting in the decor or style of your room. These pieces also do not take up allot of space and help keep your room spacious and without clutter.
When there is need for extra sleeping room the problem has been solved. Imagine a single bed that has become a sofa in style and usage. It is possible today. Starting with the construction, today we can find them made of iron, brass, and wood. No longer does this piece of furniture look like a spare item stuck in the middle of a room like a huge white elephant. Quite the contrary!
Their Design and Use. One of the main ways that modern daybeds different from what we might see today is in their construction. Metal daybeds were unheard of and therefore most were wood daybeds. Even the best mattresses were made up of cushions and draperies, which were added to the construction of the rope bed. During the 900`s through the 1700`s, it was more common to find long wooden chest and rope beds. All of those cushions would have made them very expensive and therefore it was less common for these pieces of "modern" bedroom furniture to be prominent in a home.
