From the 900`s to the 1700`s long wooden chest and rope beds were popular. The construction of the rope bed was simple but they were dressed up by using cushions and draperies that were very expensive. In the 1600`s the folding daybed frame was designed and adorned with cushions and curtains to dress them up. The French resting bed designed with six to eight legs was popular in the late 16th century along with the "drop arm" sofa. In the 17th century the "William and Mary" long chair was getting lots of attention.
Perhaps the most important feature to remember when buying daybeds for living rooms is to match it with the other decor within the space. Use color, texture and the overall size to help make the bed fit within the room properly. While traditional a type of bedroom furniture, daybeds can also work very well in most living rooms, especially if you are looking for a softer look to the space, but only if selected properly, too.
Modern Daybeds - A Great Option For Every Room. As you can guess from its name, the daybed is a piece of furniture which is used for sleeping during the day. But daybeds are more similar to sofas that to normal beds. This is why you usually find the daybeds positioned in the living room. The modern daybed has the structure of a sofa: a back and 2 arms. But the contemporary daybeds have the advantage that they have a nice design. Because of the modern design, you can add a daybed as a piece of furniture in your new stylish living room. Of course, the daybed can be a great option if you are living in a studio. During the night you can use it as a bed and during the day it has the role of a sofa.
Often bedding sets are sold that include the bedskirt, a comforter, and two or three pillow shams that can easily covert the sleep space into a fashionable settee. The colors and patterns allow for easy decorating to suit almost any room and any style. Whether you prefer the look of an English country cottage or a more modern style, there is an ensemble that will complement almost any room. For those who have limited space, such as a small apartment where the bedroom doubles for the living room, the transition is an easy fix. Small one room apartments can now have style that is welcoming under any circumstances.
Also keep in mind that the features and bedding added to it will also play a role in what it looks like and how it functions: If you are after a softer look, consider comforter sets with more thickness. A floral pattern will definitely soften the room. Use color as a way to help to soften the room, too. For example, the linens themselves can be white or other soft colors for a more enjoyable look. However, the bed frame`s color also matters. For a softer look, choose a white, contemporary daybed.
